ABOUT US

The “Istituto Tecnico Industriale G. Marconi” (G. Marconi Technical and Industrial Institute) is located in the town of Rovereto (Province of Trento), in the region of Trentino Alto-Adige (South Tyrol), in Northern Italy, about 180 km. from the Austrian border.

Our school is large and modern, with about one thousand pupils aged 14-18 and one hundred fifty teachers. Its duration is 5 years and embodies two fundamental kinds of Italian high schools/colleges : the “Liceo Scientifico Tecnologico” (Technical-Scientific Lyceum), and the “Istituto tecnico Industriale” (Technical Institute). The “High School” is oriented towards studying both Arts and Sciences, and is conceived as a university preparatory course. The “Istituto Tecnico” is a typical type of Lyceum, mainly oriented towards practical subjects, in our case Electronics, Computer Science etc. At the end of the course, pupils become qualified technicians and decide whether to enter the job market or to enrol at a university.

........................
Our school offers three courses in:
1. Electronics and telecoms
2. Computer Science
3. “Liceo scientifico tecnologico” (Technical-Scientific Lyceum)
The technical school is divided into two sub-courses:
Biennio (Biennial) (grades 1 and 2, with pupils aged 14-16): teaching general subjects.
Triennio (Triennial) (grades 3, 4 and 5, with pupils aged 17-19): teaching general and technical subjects.

The ITI Marconi is a state school founded in 1962. The innovative nature of the school and the industrial boom which characterised the time, contributed to its progressive growth. The school gradually introduced today’s specialisations, launching “Electronics and Telecoms” in 1971, “Computer Science” in 1974 and “Liceo Scientifico Teconologico” in 1995.
The school is well-rooted in our socio-economical system, having forged a number of alliances with universities, industries and cultural institutions on a local, national and European international level. The specialisations in Electronics-Telecoms and in Computer Science are the only available in Trentino. As a consequence, in addition to pupils coming from Rovereto and nearby villages, the school hosts young people from all over the Province.

School’s Statement:

The Istituto Tecnico Industriale G. Marconi aims to provide learning opportunities, excellent teaching and individual support for the personal, social and intellectual development of young women and men independently minded, by establishing an environment conducive to learning, a climate of trust and respect for the individual, and an appreciation for learning. The Istituto Tecnico Industriale G. Marconi endeavours to work in partnership with local universities, industries, educational and cultural agencies, as well as to be open to change and improvement in every aspect of its activities.
